Gay Guitars were built in Edmonton by Frank Gay, a prominent musician and builder. His guitars were played by a number of prominent musicians including Johnny Cash, Hank Snow, b Pierce, and Faron Young. The jury is still out whether this is an actual Frank Gay instrument or a copy of a Gay guitar (Paul seems to think it’s a real Gay, but completed during one of Frank Gay’s notorious drinking binges).

It’s a much simpler and cruder instrument than many of the other Gay guitars I have seen. In the 60's my friend Mick Bennison had a Frank Gay custom guitar built and I was privileged to play it more than a few times. Speaking of sex appeal though, some of these guitar players are definitely sexier than any star I have seen on my favorite gaytag videos online. But back to the meat of this post.
